When Is the Best Time to Climb Kilimanjaro?
Kilimanjaro can technically be climbed year-round, but the timing of your climb significantly affects your experience. The best months are January-March and June-October, which are the dry seasons with the clearest skies and most comfortable conditions.

Dry Seasons (Best for Climbing)
January-March: The "short dry season." Fewer crowds than the long dry season, with clearer mornings and occasional afternoon clouds. Temperatures are warm at the base and cold at the summit. This is often considered the best time to climb — good weather, fewer people, and lower prices.
June-October: The "long dry season." The most popular time to climb. Skies are clearest from June-August, with excellent visibility. September-October sees more clouds but still good conditions. This is peak season with the most groups and highest prices.
Wet Seasons (Less Ideal)
March-May: The "long rains." This is the wettest period with heavy rainfall, especially at lower elevations. Trails can be muddy and slippery. However, prices are lower and there are fewer crowds. Some experienced trekkers choose this time for the solitude.
November-December: The "short rains." Brief afternoon showers are common, but mornings are usually clear. This is a good shoulder season with moderate prices and fewer crowds.
